Our History

Established in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 1964 to design and manufacture high pressure and high temperature valves for the petrochemical industry. Today, we continue to lead the way in innovative engineering and customer service.

1964

BEL Valves is established as a high pressure petrochemical valve supplier.

1982

BEL Valves install first valve install in the North Sea.

1990

First HIPPS solution and large bore valves are designed and manufactured.

1994

BEL Valves expands into subsea gate valve market and received first order of over £10m.

2001

BEL Valves designs first subsea ball valves.

2010

Large Bore gate valves (36″, 32” & 24”) executed for Bleachfield in Trinidad.

2012

Largest Subsea HIPPS valve developed and fully qualified (Enabling Technology), 10” 600bar.

2014

7,1/16” 15K, 3000m Subsea valve fully designed and qualified to API 17D for the Gulf of Mexico.

2015

HIPPS valves supplied to Hasbah phase 1.

2016

10 Subsea Manifolds executed for Shah Deniz 2, which consisted of HIPPS valve, 6” and 2” ROV and HSR gate valves (222 valves in total).

2019

BEL Valves manufactures three 56″ gate valves, the largest gate valves yet.

2023

Large ESD valve order executed for the Seagull and Murlach projects.

2024

BEL Valves celebrates 60 years of engineering excellence.

2025

BEL Valves launches a new hydrogen and carbon capture department after achieving the Fit 4 Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Usages and Storage status in 2024.

2025

Received first CCUS order for gate valves from 8” to 24”.
